Most Doors Onboard Aren’t Locked

This one might seem kind of horrifying at first, but it’s actually for a good reason. Most of the doors on cruise ships, except passengers’ cabin doors, don’t actually lock. This is for safety reasons.

If there is an emergency on a ship, the crew and passengers must be able to get to wherever they need to go in order to evacuate or look for other passengers. You can also imagine the issue with people accidentally being locked in somewhere if a ship sank or there was a fire on board somewhere.
