Waterman Aerobile (1935-1939)
The Aerobile, with its design and functionality, could easily be mistaken for a vehicle from the fictional world of DC Comics’ Green Arrow. Its appearance strongly resembles something that might belong in a superhero’s collection of high-tech gear. Unfortunately for Waterman, the company behind this innovative two-seater aircraft/car hybrid, the design did not meet with public approval.
During its production run in the late 1930s, the Aerobile failed to capture the market’s interest, resulting in a remarkably low production output. Over several years, only five units of this ambitious hybrid were manufactured.
