Horsey Horseless (1899)
It might seem unfair to categorize early automobiles as some of the worst ever, given the technological advancements in modern cars. However, some early models stand out as notably poor concepts. The 1899 Horsey Horseless is a prime example of such a design misstep.
This peculiar vehicle featured a large fake horse head affixed to the front, conceived during the shift from horse-drawn carriages to motor vehicles. The designer believed that this feature would ease the transition for users by providing a familiar sight. Additionally, he proposed using the hollow interior of the horse head for extra fuel storage, a suggestion that was not only impractical but also potentially hazardous.
