CORA SUE COLLINS – 92

Former child actress Cora Sue Collins entered the entertainment business during the Golden Age of Hollywood. She made her acting debut in the 1932 film The Unexpected Father, and success followed her after that. By 1934, she started making around $250 weekly. It may not sound like much, but $250 in the 40s meant you didn’t need to take any personal loans. Her last on-screen project was the 1945 comedy-drama film Weekend at the Waldorf.

Don’t get fooled by the number of years under her name. Although she only worked from 1932 until 1945, her name was part of 47 movie credits. She retired at the young age of 18. Just this 2019, Cora was interviewed about her life as an actress in MGM. She worked along with Greta Garbo and became friends until Garbo died in 1990. During her visit to Destin, she attended an event named “A Conversation with Cora Sue Collins” held in Pelican Beach Resort. That was the actress’s last public appearance.
